Trumpets have been around for thousands of years. Trumpets have been made of metal since at least 1500BCE. But the idea is even older, it may have started when people realised that an animal horn with holes on boath ends could make noise when you purse your lips and blow through it. The modern trumpet has existed since 1818, when valves were invented. Before that, trumpets didn’t have valves, they are called natural trumpets.
